Wu Chang

Wu Chang is the Asia Pacific director for Technical Services and Development (TS&D) in Packaging and Specialty Plastics. Based in Shanghai, Wu Chang is responsible for the overall technical direction and tactical execution of products and application development for P&SP.

Wu Chang first joined Dow in 1997 as Technical, Service and Development (TS&D) development engineer for the Plastics business, supporting Solution Polyethylene, Wire and Cable and SARAN™ Barrier Resins. In 2006, he was selected for a two year assignment in Freeport, Texas for the Polyethylene Research group, where he was trained on Research and Development (R&D) as well as product capabilities to better customize to the needs of customers in Asia Pacific.

After returning to Shanghai in 2008, Wu Chang assumed the role of TS&D leader for Basic Plastics and was responsible for the entire North Asia market. He managed the application development for Food and Specialty Packaging, Industrial and Consumer Packaging (I&CP), as well as Hygiene and Medical market segments, while also serving as the Application Technology leader for I&CP.

In 2011, Wu Chang was appointed associate technical director for Adhesives and Functional Materials (AFM) for Asia Pacific. He led both the AFM, TS&D and R&D teams in application development activities using water-based, solvent-less and solvent-based adhesives in the packaging lamination industry, as well as the acrylic emulsion polymers for pressure sensitive adhesives applications. He assumed the role of Asia Pacific marketing director for Food and Specialty Packaging in 2014, before moving to his current role in November 2015.

Wu Chang received his bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science from East China University of Science and Technology in 1994.
